It's About A Better Future
Koga EarthGear begins with the Earth. It is built on the belief that together we can do things better, better for the land, the oceans, the air, and all life that depends on them. Better in how we create, how we consume, and how we take responsibility for our impact and what we leave behind. This is about choosing a more considered way forward, one that honours the planet that sustains us.

Koga EarthGear is more than a brand. It is a commitment to conscious choices, thoughtful design, and respect for the natural world. Every piece represents a decision to move with greater care, to work with the Earth, not against it and to be part of a growing shift toward more responsible living.

We believe the future depends on harmony and respect between people, cultures, and generations and with the Earth itself. Protecting the planet, respecting our differences, and supporting one another are not separate ideas; they are inseparable parts of doing things better.

There is only one Earth known to sustain life as we know it. Caring for it is not optional, it is our shared responsibility. At Koga EarthGear, we believe that love for the Earth, for life, and for each other is the foundation of real change and lasting impact.

We passionately seek to be the change the earth and humanity needs through the messaging in our designs and through how we do business, how things are made, how things are shipped and what we do with our profits.

Welcome to Koga EarthGear.
Grounded in respect.
Guided by responsibility.
Moving forward in unity.
Where Our Story Began
Koga EarthGear didn’t start as a business. It started as a moment, one of those life defining moments that becomes etched into your soul.
When our founder Koga (Shane McLeay) was sixteen, a group of false killer whales beached themselves near his home. He went to help, not really knowing what to do, he just following his instinct. As he held the head of one of the whales with a group of other volunteers, its body heavy, breath fading, it looked deep into his eyes and touched his soul. He explained that time stopped and he felt it say thank you. That moment cracked him open. It changed how he saw everything, people, animals, the planet itself. It was like the veil between worlds lifted, and he suddenly understood that helping people and helping the Earth are the same thing.
From that time on everything in his shifted shifted and Koga was born.

Let's Be The Change
Each year, an estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic waste enter the world’s oceans, the equivalent of one garbage truck dumping plastic into the sea every single minute. Some studies suggest the figure may range between 4 and 12 million tonnes annually, depending on how waste and microplastics are measured. Regardless of the exact number, the truth is undeniable: what we discard does not disappear. It returns, to our oceans, our ecosystems, and ultimately to future generations - your grandchildren.

Pollution is not a far off issue that belongs to "someone else". It is a whole humanity issue that needs immediate attention and it is a challenge that calls for change now.

Humanity did not become dependent on plastic overnight. It arrived quietly, offering speed, convenience, and versatility, slowly replacing natural materials that once served us well. Plastic has undeniable usefulness, and every one of us has relied on it at some point. This is not about blame or judgment of materials or of people. It is about recognising that alternatives exist, and that we once lived differently.

Koga EarthGear stands for remembering. Remembering natural fibres. Remembering earth-honouring materials. Remembering that more thoughtful, responsible ways of creating and consuming are still available to us if we choose them. The issue of plastic and pollution is not about guilt, it is about awareness, and then choice and ultimately change.

We can all do better in how we interact with the Earth. It begins by understanding the consequences of what we use and what we throw away. Together, we can relearn, return, and become part of the change this world is quietly asking for, steadily, and with care.
