It's About A Better Future
Koga EarthGear begins with a love for life, adventure and the Earth. We believe that together we can do things better, better products, better choices, and a better way of living that supports the land, and our oceans, that's good for everyone.
This is about moving forward with responsibility and intention. Choosing materials and designs that feel good to wear and good to stand behind. Making thoughtful decisions that respect the planet while still celebrating life, adventure, and everyday living.
Koga EarthGear is more than a brand. It is a commitment to conscious design, quality that lasts, and a more positive way of doing things. Every piece reflects a choice to create with care and to be part of a growing shift toward smarter, more responsible solutions.
We believe a brighter future is possible when we work with the Earth rather than against it. Respect for the planet and respect for one another is a really positive way forward.
At Koga EarthGear, we are guided by a simple idea: when we create with care and intention, we help shape a future that feels hopeful, connected, and alive.
We bring that intention into everything we do, the designs we make, the way we produce and ship, and the impact we choose to create.
Welcome to Koga EarthGear.
Grounded in respect.
Guided by intention.
Moving forward together.
Where Our Story Began
Koga EarthGear didn’t start as a business. It started as a moment, one of those life defining moments that becomes etched into your soul.
When our founder,Shane McLeay was sixteen years old, a group of false killer whales beached themselves near his home town of Taree on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. He went to help, not really knowing what to do, he just following the instinct that he had to just help.
As he held the head of one of the whales with a group of other volunteers, its body heavy, breath fading, it looked deep into his eyes and touched his soul.
He explained that time stopped in that moment and he felt it say thank you. That moment cracked him open. It changed how he saw everything, people, animals and the planet as a whole. Something within him shifted and he suddenly understood that helping people and helping the Earth are the same thing.
From that time on everything in his world shifted shifted and the journey toward Koga EarthGear began.

Let's Be The Change
Each year, an estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic waste enter the world’s oceans, the equivalent of one garbage truck dumping plastic into the sea every single minute. Some studies suggest the figure may range between 4 and 12 million tonnes annually, depending on how waste and microplastics are measured. Regardless of the exact number, the truth is undeniable: what we discard does not disappear. It returns, to our oceans, our ecosystems, and ultimately to future generations, your children and grandchildren.
Humanity did not become dependent on plastic overnight. It arrived quietly, offering speed, convenience, and versatility, slowly replacing natural materials that once served us well. Plastic has undeniable usefulness, and every one of us has relied on it at some point. This is not about blame or judgment of materials or of people. It is about recognising that alternatives exist, and that we once lived differently.
At Koga EarthGear we're about remembering. Remembering natural fibres. Remembering that more thoughtful, responsible ways of creating and consuming are still available to us if we choose them. The issue of plastic and pollution is not about guilt, it is about awareness, then choice and ultimately change.
We can all do better in how we interact with the Earth. It begins by understanding every small action adds up to a huge difference. Together, we can relearn, return, and become part of the change this world is quietly asking for, steadily, and with care and without political and corporate agendas.
